Greetings, dear friends. This is Iryna Zolotarevych. I hope all of you have completed your homework. And now you understand the power and importance of the right questions. Today you will learn what active listening is and why it is beneficial to listen deeper, beyond what has been said.
Listening is not just hearing the words. It means understanding the essence of the conversation. The leader needs to be able to listen to others. As in this case he will make an impression of an attentive and understanding person.
But not everyone manages to be a good listener and there are 3 main reasons for that:
You want to talk by yourselfMost people want to make a good impression and to achieve this they are constantly sharing their knowledge. Unfortunately, the desire to tell something prevents you from listening because you think you already know the answer.
You evaluate your companionWe all condemn actions and words of people around us in one way or another. When we disagree with what the interlocutor says, we stop listening to him. «Why should I listen to a stupid person?» - you might think.
You are disturbed by your beliefsIf you know that the interlocutor has no experience in what he says, you do not want to listen to him. Or maybe you’ve considered him as a person of bad character for a long time. Here are a few reasons to become a good listener: you can earn the appreciation of your companion, learn something new, improve the ability to concentrate and gain trust. Moreover, this is a direct path to effective management of communication and relationships with people at any time, even in the most difficult situations.
